Taking months or even years to create, this gorgeous carpet was painstakingly crafted by tying pieces of vegetable-dyed wool around a cotton warp in thousands upon thousands of individual knots. A true labor of love, the resulting carpet is marked by subtle imperfections that reveal the weaver's hand.

Crafted in the early 20th century, this rectangular area carpet is patterned with floral diamond lattice design in a neutral palette of brown, pink, and beige. The all-over pattern is enclosed by a simple meander and a main border of diamond-work and ribbon-clad scholars' objects.

From the collection of Frances and Gary Comer.
