This amulet box (also called a gau) was made in Tibet over a century ago. It probably once held a protective, religious relic or was used as a portable shrine. The body is finely crafted out of silver and is adorned with turquoise and coral—two of the “five sacred stones” of the Tibetan Buddhists, used to symbolize the life force energy. This exquisite treasure is mounted on a custom iron stand.
