Petite Brass and Bamboo Pipe

Smoking was a part of life in China. In many 19th century paintings, men are depicted smoking pipes very much like this hand-crafted piece made from brass and bamboo. Poets and writers talk lovingly of the aroma and taste of tobacco, and some talk of pipes as being a friend and companion who helped them overcome loneliness.
