Rice Measure

This finely crafted 19th century wood carrier was made in the Shanxi region of China to measure out one dou—about 10 liters—of rice. Its creamy coloration is unusual and attributed to the natural aging of the original lacquer over time. The hand forged iron hardware is also original and adds tremendous character to the piece.
