In this ingenious design, the cylindrical form of a single bamboo segment becomes a minimalist, nature-inspired headrest. To keep the headrest stable, the craftsman squared off the stem’s edges. Rectangles cut into the side reveal the stem’s hollow interior, lightening the design and adding room for air circulation. Crafted around 1900 in Shanxi province, the headrest was used to protect intricate hairstyles during sleep. Its minimalist design and organic nature give it a wonderful sculptural presence.

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
