This seated Burmese figure captures a musician in eternal song. The wooden figure is hand-carved with a seated posture, legs crossed and arms outstretched to hold her instrument, most likely a flute or double-reeded horn. The musician is depicted in fine attire, with an intricate belt, sash, and jewelry inlaid with glass sequins. Originally lavished with gilt pigments atop red lacquer, the figure has faded to a gently worn finish and softer, orange-red hue.
