This most unusual water dipper is made of a natural gourd, ringed at the base and lip with polished hard wood. This particular gourd resembles the shape of a “golden lotus,” one of a pair of palm-sized shoes worn by bound-foot women during the Qing dynasty. This rarified and charming vessel was used by a late 19th-century calligrapher as a reservoir for water, placed on a painting table alongside his brush, ink and inkstone.

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
