This jade pendant is carefully hand-carved with a scene of a young boy playing outdoors. Above him are swirling clouds and a bat, a symbol of happiness and good fortune. Sometimes referred to as ho ho boys, children were a popular motif in Chinese art, and were considered lucky talismans, especially for prospective parents. This charming pendant was likely once strung from the waist and worn as a blessing for happiness and good health.
