Dou Rice Measure

This handcrafted container was made to measure one dou (about ten liters) of rice: one of the staples of Chinese cuisine. It was carefully crafted with dovetail joinery then finished with iron fasteners. Over time, the wood has aged with tremendous character. The characters on the side read "authentic" with the name of the rice vendor.
