Japenese Erotic Gourd Netsuke

This miniature masterpiece is called a netsuke—a button-like toggle worn for centuries on Japanese kimono. The most highly prized designs were carved with elaborately detailed patterns or evocative imagery. What seems to be a simple gourd, the netsuke opens to reveal a couple in an erotic embrace, along with a detailed carving of genitalia.
