This majestic statue is a portrayal of Guan Yin, an enlightened bodhisattva of infinite compassion well known among East Asian Buddhists. She wears a serene expression and is seated on an exquisitely detailed lotus blossom throne with her attendants standing to either side. The name Guan Yin means, "Observing the Sounds of the World," to show that she hears prayers and helps people in need.
