This exquisitely carved, white jade box was made during the Qing Dynasty and embodies two of the stone’s most valued virtues: purity and excellence. In China, jade was considered to be the most precious of all stones. A Confucian text from the 3rd century suggests that there is nothing in the world of equal value.
