The flowing, draped robes that dress this serene depiction of the enlightened Buddha, Sakyamuni, are intricately carved. Traces of the the original lacquer are on the sole of his poised foot which is folded peacefully atop the sculpted lotus flower throne. Sakyamuni is also known as Siddartha, the founder of Buddhism and the god of love and compassion.
