Red Lacquer Bowl

This shallow lacquered bowl is shaped with a round footed base and a wide, flat rim, comprised of slatted elmwood banded with cord. Lacquered inside and out, the exterior is finished to a cinnabar red and the interior to a dark red-brown. The interior is further painted with gold decoration of flowers and a scene of three children at play in a garden setting. Used as a catch-all or placed atop a cabinet, this large bowl adds bright color and rich texture to modern interiors.
