Intrigued by all that is formless or ephemeral in nature, Xie conjures forth forms, “commanding them to reveal their true identity in porcelain.” Her organically shaped one-of-a-kind bowl swells and recedes like a windblown sheet. Dynamic and nearly translucent, the bowl seems to defy its own solidity, pinned down in porcelain during its imagined wind-tossed trajectory.
