Shallow Basket with Handle

This basket was made in China long ago and is a handsome collector’s item, but was originally designed to be useful. Someone may have carried it home from the market everyday; the tightly woven willow strips and strong bent wood handle comfortably supporting the weight of their groceries. It has worn beautifully with time, but remains in remarkable condition as a testament to its craftsmanship.
