The mesmerizing textures displayed in this basin are inherent to the puddingstone, a material quarried in the Liaoning region of China and prized by scholars for its exceptional patterning. This contemporary hand-carved stone basin evokes the graceful shape of a traditional lotus flower. Shaped with undulating curves, the container has the look of free-form pottery. Exploiting the stone’s conglomerate nature to suggest painterly daubs of color, the sculptor gives the vessel an almost fluid appearance.

Pudding Stone

Named for its resemblance to a fruit-studded pudding, the conglomerate stone known as ‘pudding stone’ has been a favored material for centuries, selected for its contrasting colors and mesmerizing patterns. Sourced from the mountains of Shandong Province, China, each stone is cut and polished to reveal the captivating natural forms held within.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
