This monumental stoneware vessel was hand-formed in the early 20th century by an artisan in China's Shanxi province. The jar has a wide mouth with a rolled lip and three strap handles attached at the shoulders. A dark, glossy glaze sheets, pools, and drips down the surface of the tall vessel, lingering beautifully on every imperfection. The glazed interior indicates that it was once used to store wine and spirits made from rice and grains. With grand scale and balanced form, this vessel is a beautiful example of provincial Chinese ceramics.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
