Bamboo and Bone Calligraphy Brush

The handles of most calligraphy brushes made in China during the late-19th & early-20th centuries were created from bamboo. This particular 19th century brush was made from a select piece of bamboo with unusual growth lines and form. The bristles are natural and are held in place by a carved horn collar.
