The son of a noted stone carver, Song Hongquan inherited his father’s affinity for manipulating diverse materials such as granite, marble, and basite. In "Four Dumplings," Song hand-carved four incredibly life-like dumplings on a plate from a single slab of white marble. The piece is part of an ongoing body of work that depicts objects from his everyday life growing up in a village in China. Cooking utensils, hand tools, miniature stools and tables, and the like are all painstakingly carved from granite and marble, recalling a simpler way of life that has been quickly disappearing in his country.

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
