This elegant redware vessel is an exquisite example of Maya ceramics. Finely sculpted with thin walls and a balanced form, In a process known as "fire clouding," the red clay slip coating the vessel has darkened to black from smoke during the firing process. The contrasting fields of red and black evoke the fiery heat of the kiln and provide depth and texture to the smoothed vessel. Thinly etched lines circumvent the vessel, interrupting the organic patterning with subtle linear motion.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
