Sang-de-Boeuf Bulb Neck Vase

The beautiful, deep red of this vase became known as sang-de-boeuf, or oxblood, among collectors in Europe. Once Western potters were introduced to this glaze in the 18th and 19th centuries, they immediately began to search for the secret of creating this elusive color.
