This covered jar is made of hand-blown speckled blue Peking Glass. It was created over a hundred years ago, but China’s Imperial Workshop first developed glass techniques in the 17th century. The simple, flowing lines and gentle curves are crafted from a single piece of molten glass that was formed into this shape. The glass blower then added up to six more layers of molten glass to create the deep color. Glass carvers cut and polished the vessel, resulting in this traditional form with a jewel-like appearance.
