It is easy to imagine this stone jar filled with plants, set along a garden path; the monumental weight of the stone contrasts beautifully with delicate, natural beauty. This stone jar was carved in China’s Hebei Province in the early 20th century, but the repeating clover pattern hearkens back to beautiful ironwork, bronzes, and ceramics perfected by Chinese artisans thousands of years earlier.
