Blades of stone have been part of Chinese culture since Neolithic times. Carved from Jade, a highly appreciated and understated material thought to embody great Virtue, blades evolved from functional weapons into decorative objects for display. The form of this example is very traditional with attractive circular opening designed to attach the blade to a wooden shaft. The jade blade sits on a contemporary custom steel mount.
