One of the primary functions of the Chinese garden was to provide a setting for literary gatherings, places where poets and scholars convened with nature and commemorated the affair with poetry. Intricately brushed in cobalt blue on white porcelain, this delightful vase depicts Chinese courtly live, with built elements of the garden separating various scenes. Scholars stroll through the garden with their attendants while two women on a balcony overlook the scenery below, surrounded by auspicious ruyi symbols. The vase's neck is painted with scenes of gentlemen playing games and flying kites in a sky full of celestial clouds. Drawing on China's long-standing blue-and-white porcelain tradition, contemporary artisans in Beijing honor the celebrated technique in this playfully decorated vase.

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
