Dating back to the Tang dynasty, blue-and-white porcelain has played a long and celebrated role in Chinese ceramic history. Prized for its pristine white surface and finely painted decoration in rich cobalt blue, blue-and-white porcelain was introduced to the West via the Silk Road where it won immediate favor. This ginger jar from Zhejiang province plays canvas to beautifully painted shizi, or fu dog. Symbolizing power and strength, these lion-like dogs float amid stylized clouds in a heavenly realm, accompanied by a molded fu dog that tops the jar’s lid.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
