This beautifully weathered piece of elmwood is actually a portion of a support beam that once bolstered a Qing-dynasty building. Notches in the wood reveal the interlocking joinery techniques employed in traditional Chinese construction. A beautiful cross-section showcases the timber's growth rings, and a century of weathering has cloaked the wood's raw texture in a rich patina, accentuating deep grooves along the table's sides. Once purely functional, the beam takes on new life re-imagined as a sculptural side table or stool.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
