This engraved silver cigarette or billfold case exemplifies Japanese refinement in all crafts. The rectangular case is decorated in shallow relief with an allover chased design of foliate scrollwork and a monogram of the initials CSW. The interior is stamped with the maker's mark "K. Udeya," a longstanding silversmith with origins in the late Edo period. A "Sterling 0.950" stamp also marks the interior.

Includes an accompanying purple silk box.
