Due to their many seeds, gourds are appreciated in China and Tibet as auspicious symbols of fertility. When dried, gourds became durable natural vessels used as ladles, flasks, or even as musical instruments. This Tibetan flask is made of such a dried gourd, shaped into the double gourd form, a common symbol of good fortune. Crafted over 150 years ago, the flask is fitted with silver hardware inset with turquoise stones and is still in remarkable condition. We've set the flask on a custom steel base for display.
