Ojai Table

For thousands of years, stonecutters flocked to the mountainous region of Zhejiang to procure prized stones, including Zhenzhu stone. Naturally peppered with pearl-like pebbles and irregular patterns, the conglomerate material sparked the imagination of Chinese painters, poets and calligraphers who found it the ideal surface to spread out scrolls or paintings. Channeling the rarified environment of a Ming-dynasty scholar’s studio, we’ve fashioned a minimalist steel mount to anchor a tabletop of hand-carved Zhenzhu stone.
