Luohan were popular in China for many centuries because their elegant form balanced beautifully with the sturdy, lightweight design. The tables were easy to move from room to room but were usually placed in a scholar’s study or bedroom. The table was made in China’s Shandong Province over 150 years ago but the woven cane top, Elmwood frame and curved legs are in remarkable condition. The decorative feet are carved to look like Ruyi (auspicious mushroom).

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
