Drawing on the enduring baluster form, this lidded jar from c. 1920 exhibits the sinuous line and gilded refinement that helped to define the global Art Deco movement. Cloaked in a vibrant persimmon glaze, the jar is painted with auspicious cranes, expressively rendered in gold with elegant, gestural lines.
