This 19th-century chest, hailing out of Northern China, started its life as a storage trunk with a solid lacquered front. Our team of craftspeople skilled in the art of traditional Chinese carpentry and lacquer finishes reconfigured it into a four-door chest, brushing by hand additional coats of lacquer to achieve a variegated red with colored undertones from its past.
