This 19th-century cabinet crafted in China's Shanxi province started its life as a storage trunk with a solid front. Our artisans skilled in traditional Chinese carpentry, reconfigured the trunk into a four-door chest with front-facing doors. A rich finish of red lacquer give the chest incredible character, laboriously applied layer by layer to achieve a variegated red with colored undertones from its past.
