This 19th century chest of drawers is crafted of oak in the French provincial style, with simple form and minimal decoration. The cabinet displays elements of both the ornately carved Louis XV-style commodes and the clean lined cabinets of the Neo-Classical era and onwards. The commode features three drawers that span cabinet front, each with carved medallions in the shape of a coat of arms. The front legs are tapered near the floor and decorated with fluted detail. With warm color and a rich patina, this oak cabinet is a lovely example of European country antiques.

From the collection of Frances and Gary Comer.

Drop handles and lock plates appear to be replacement.
