Hewn from pine and held together with handmade iron nails, this provincial wooden wheel is a remarkable example of turn-of-the-century craftsmanship. Its monumental scale suggests it was used not as a wagon wheel, but as a turning element of a Qing-dynasty mill. The thick outer rim is comprised of nine hand-carved logs, secured in place by iron hardware and eighteen wooden spokes connected to a central wheel shaft. A century of use has enhanced the wood's raw texture and exaggerated the irregular grain patterns. Whether mounted as a sculpture or simply leaning against the wall, this monumental wheel is a true show-stopper.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
