The rosewood frames on this pair of Chinese Art Deco chairs from Tianjin, China are carved to mimic bamboo. Designs like this were influenced by the Art Deco movement in the West, and recall the economic boom of the early 20th century in Shanghai, an international center of business and trade. The cushions were recently rebuilt and upholstered in a neutral textured fabric.
