This impressive Louhan bed was made in Beijing and is a modern interpretation of an ancient design. Popular during the Ming Dynasty for their elegant form and sturdy but lightweight design, the beds were easy to move from room to room but were usually placed in a scholar’s study or bedroom. The back and side rails are carved from huanghuali wood in intricate latticework patterns; the sword motif legs and beautifully scalloped aprons support the soft caned seat.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
