This unusual stool is a 19th-century barber's stool designed to be carried from place to place for roadside haircuts. Crafted with traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, the stool has a splayed-leg frame with enclosed sides, an elongated seat, and three narrow drawers for storing tools and accessories. A fantastic example of vernacular furniture of the Qing dynasty, this antique vendor's stool adds storied history and rich texture to any interior.

The bottom of each leg has been replaced due to a century of wear.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
