There are two drawers made of burled elmwood cleverly hidden in the apron of this 19th century provincial incense table, carved in an ornate archaic style and likely used to hold incense. The table maintains a wonderful spirit, with a beautifully worn curvilinear top that is designed to look like a low table proudly supported by its folk carved apron and strong round legs. The table's structure and carving mimic the architectural details of a traditional 18th/19th century courtyard home in China's Shanxi province.
