Blue and White Minggua Garden Seat

This beautiful ceramic garden stool is shaped in the traditional drum form and covered with intricate blue-and-white designs. The drum is adorned with a mountainous landscape scene, painted in the expressive style of calligraphy landscape paintings known as "shan shui." A pattern of boss-head nails borders the scene, resembling those used to stretch the skin on an actual drum. The top and sides are perforated by eternal coin motifs, symbols of prosperity and good fortune.
