This late 19th-century offering table from Shanxi province expresses Ming-dynasty tastes with clean lines and a simple silhouette. Minimally decorated, the table features straight legs topped by spandrels carved with archaistic scrollwork and a beaded edge that runs along the legs and apron. Despite the traditional design, smaller, recessed leg tables such as this were multipurpose, used as domestic altars, display tables, or surfaces for serving food and drink. Perfect as an occasional side table, this table showcases the beautiful grain of walnut (hetaomu) with timeless restraint.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
