Made in 1936 at the height of the popular Art Deco style, this demi-lune table keeps with modern tastes while preserving traditional decorative motifs in its intricately carved apron and sword-style legs. A bundle of feathery orchids tops the table's original black lacquer finish, accompanied by a poem that reads, “Orchid, resembling grass, though is elegant and beautiful.” A style popular in Europe as well as Asia, the demi-lune table has a half moon shape that sits neatly against the wall while offering pleasing curves and, in this case, an artistic ode to nature.
