This minimalist side table is topped with a small oval tray carved from brown puddingstone, a type of conglomerate stone named for its resemblance to a fruit-studded dessert. Historically, puddingstone was favored for its captivating natural appearance and used by Chinese scholars as an ideal tabletop surface on which to place scrolls for painting. Elevated by a custom steel base, the oval tray becomes a versatile side table.

Named for its resemblance to a fruit-studded pudding, the conglomerate stone known as ‘pudding stone’ has been a favored material for centuries, selected for its contrasting colors and mesmerizing patterns. Sourced from the mountains of Shandong Province, China, each stone is cut and polished to reveal the captivating natural forms held within.
