Known as a calligrapher’s table, this expansive, early 19th-century table offered a scholar ample surface space to paint or practice calligraphy. In order to cultivate uncluttered and inspiring surroundings, only a few carefully arranged objects would have been placed upon the table, such as a brush pot, inkstone, or table screen. With round legs and finely beaded spandrels, the table stands at a height that would have allowed the artist to work while standing up. Made of northern elmwood, the table features a beautifully aged lacquer finish, adding a rustic yet elegant note to the farmhouse kitchen or main room.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
