This refined plank top table is originally from a 19th century Chinese scholar’s rarefied home. There are not many surviving tables with such elegant proportions—the hoof feet and the legs relate beautifully to the top and aprons, which are carved with elongated begonias. A humpback stretcher between the legs strengthens and supports. The table is finished in many, many layers of hand applied black lacquer that have aged beautifully.

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
