This rustic pine trunk dating from the Qing dynasty projects quiet harmony and balance. Simple in design and bare of ornament except for its brass hardware, the trunk epitomizes the austerity of classical Chinese furniture design. Made in Hebei province around 1850, the trunk provided storage for robes and other garments.
