Dated to the early 20th century, this grand console table from China's Shanxi province boasts clean lines and impressive proportions. Crafted of northern elm (yumu) with a black lacquer finish, the table has a streamlined silhouette, with square corners, no apron, and straight legs ending in simple hoofed feet. The long table has five drawers, each carved with a silver ingot, one of the Eight Treasures in Chinese art and a symbol of brightness and purity. Minimally decorated, this five-drawer table has an understated design that blends effortlessly into modern interiors.
