Likely commissioned for his studio, this expansive, early 20th-century poet's table offered a scholar ample surface space to draft poetry or practice calligraphy. In order to cultivate uncluttered and inspiring surroundings, only a few carefully arranged objects would have been placed upon the table, such as a brush pot, inkstone, or table screen.

The floating panel top of this monumental table sits on four round legs linked by straight double stretchers. Atop each leg is a decorative ruyi symbol, trimmed with a finely beaded edge that connects to the shallow apron. Constructed of darkened northern elmwood (yumu), this gorgeous table adds grandeur and elegance to a work space or dining room.
